Everyone's health is affected by having economic security and expensive health insurance, health care and prescriptions can jeopardize that security. Being able to access the health care you need when you need it and being able to afford health insurance and prescription drugs are key to your ability to live a good life. In 2020, I was author of the Alec Smith Insulin Affordability Act. We passed a first in the nation bill that gives people with diabetes a lifeline if they are running out of insulin and can't afford their next prescription. We need to ensure that there are no more Alec Smith's -- people should not die because they can't afford their insulin. This is one step and there is more work ahead to bring down the costs of prescription drugs.
